Code of Behaviour



  • School begins at 9.00 a.m. and all children are expected to be punctual. In the interests of safety, the Convent entrance is not to be used as an entrance to the school. Lunch is from 12.30 p.m. to 1.00 p.m. and classes end at 1.40 p.m. for Infants and 2.40 p.m. for all other classes.
  • Children are expected to a) be polite and respectful to each other, to the teachers and to all other staff members, b) to have a positive attitude to discipline and be willing to learn from correction, c) to respect school property and the property of others and d) value cleanliness and tidiness both in themselves and in the school environment.
  • Children are expected to come to school in full school uniform and to wear the school tracksuit on P.E. days. For a description of the school uniform, click here.
  • Jewellery should be kept to a minimum, but pupils may wear one pair of stud earrings in the earlobe, one ring and a watch. Nail varnish is not allowed and long hair must be tied back.
  • Healthy lunches are recommended. Chewing gum, Frubes, crisps, cans, glass bottles and lollipops are not allowed.
  • A note from parents is required when a) a pupil has been absent, and b) permission is sought for leaving school early. In this case the child must be collected from the classroom with a signed note from the office.
  • Children may not remain in class or enter the school building during breaks, except in special circumstances. When in the school building, running is strictly forbidden. On the yard, children must stand still and be silent when the bell rings and walk to their line in an orderly fashion when the teacher calls them.
  • Bullying in any shape or form will not be tolerated under any circumstances whatsoever.
  • Children are not allowed to have mobile phones in school. If, in rare instances, the mobile phone is needed to contact parents after school, the child must leave the phone in the school office and collect it at home time.
