Science Week 2012

posted Nov 17, 2012, 3:37 AM by St Vincent's Convent National School Cork
Our children would have done Albert Einstein this week as they hypothesised, investigated, tested and came to wonderful conclusions to a range of scientific questions during Science Week 2012. Some classes visited workshops and activities organised in Cork in honour of Science Week, and a number of visitors came to the school to offer presentations and active learning opportunities to the children. During our Annual Science Fair on Wednesday 14th November, all children from Junior Infants to 6th class presented the findings of their class experiments to a captive audience of their schoolmates. They worked hard with their teachers in their classrooms and came up with lots of fantastic experiments such as sense of touch, floating and sinking, magnetism, forces, heathy teeth, circuits, polymers and many more. A lot of parents came along to be wowed by the budding scientists, and the children also got the chance to go around and test the experiments after the presentation. A huge thanks to Ms. Riordan and Mrs. Meagher for their hard work in organising the Science Fair.
